Tandoori Chicken is a popular Indian dish made of chicken marinated in yogurt and spices. The dish is named tandoor, as this is prepared traditionally in a clay oven. This is a very popular dish, which can be found, as the main menu in all top restaurants and roadside shops.
The chicken is marinated in a mixture of yogurt and the spicy tandoori masala. Kashmiri chili powder, turmeric powder, and lemon are used to enhance the color. The marinated chicken is placed on skewers and cooked at high temperatures in a heated clay oven known as the tandoor. It is heated with charcoal or wood which adds to the smoky flavor.
