Tirattipal is nothing but the traditional method of making palkova/milk peda. Tiratti in Tamil means ‘gather’ and pal means ‘milk’. In the traditional method, milk is boiled along with sugar and thickened to coarse consistency to get this Tirattipal. Today we are going to see the easy method using the condensed milk.
Tirattipal is very famous in Srivilliputhur, Tamil Nadu. This peda has a very coarse texture and also some use jaggery instead of sugar. To get this coarse texture we add yogurt into the milk to curdle. The traditional method of making tirattipal takes a lot of time say at least one hour. We are going to make it with condensed milk and it takes less than half an hour to prepare. You can simply make it with condensed milk, yogurt, and ghee. But personally, I feel it tastes so sweet. So in my method, I added little milk and milk powder to balance the sugar.
Kids will love this a lot. I have shown the stove top method. You can even make this with a microwave. It takes only 10-12 mins to work with microwave. The steps are very simple mix all the ingredients in a microwave-safe bowl. Mix it and keep it for 3 mins in high in 3 equal intervals. Mix it in between till the coarse texture arrives. Serve hot or cold. Now let us see how to prepare this recipe on the stove top.
